A busy week!

18th Oct 2024
We were so busy this week in the Junior Room. In maths juniors and seniors were studying 2D shapes- we made shapes using playdough, pipe cleaners and geoboards. We also did jigsaws. 1st class were investigating numbers 15 and 16 using different strategies. We also sorted the money we took in our cake shop.
We continued to learn about Earth,  Moon and Sun by looking at how craters are made on the moon- and we had a go at making craters in flour. We noticed the higher we dropped the marble the bigger the craters were.
We also used flour when learning about Halloween- we tried out an old Halloween game where we had to get the grape out of the flour with no hands. It was messy but fun. We also made some witches broomsticks out of sticks. This was tricky but we are pleased with our broomsticks. Our witchy theme continued when we tested materials to see which were waterproof.  We all had a different material and made a cloak for Winnie the witch. Then we sprayed them with water. The plastic and tin foil made the best cloaks for keeping dry.
Gaelic training continued and we always love the games we play.
The African drumming was really enjoyable and we made some cool sounds and rhythms. Thank you to Barra for teaching us.
We continued with our phonics and cursive writing- there are some lovely writers developing!
Finally it was our turn to be bakers and shopkeepers in St Lassara's cake shop. This was serious business- everyone sold their delicious goods and were very good handling the money. Well done and thank you to all the bakers!
