Yes the heating was on - we were investigating which materials made good insulators! We had ice cubes and kept one in a cup as our "control", we wrapped one in newspaper, one in tin foil and one in cotton wool. At 10 minute intervals we checked on their progress - the control melted in 1 hour. Only 1 lasted until the end of the day - ask one of 1st & 2nd class which material was the best insulator!
