In the Junior Room.
In the Junior Room this week we have enjoyed lots of activities.
Our rhyme this week was Hickory Dickory Dock and this led to a discussion on grandfather clocks. Teacher brought in an old clock that needed winding up with a special key and we heard it ticking. We didn't have a mouse so Mr Snuggles very kindly made a guest appearance to "run" up the clock.
Junior infants were busy making patterns in maths - we used pom poms, beads and pegs. The senior infants were learning about data. They sorted objects to make sets, they used pictograms to use the data, they even went outdoors to collect objects to use as data. The children in 1st class were examining the numbers 11 and 12 and found different ways to make them.
In pe this week we were practicing our throwing and catching using bean bags and balls. We love a game of "tails" at the end of pe.
In Science we were learning about our senses - we had fun being blindfolded and feeling, smelling and tasting fruit. We all agreed our senses are very important!
In drama and sphe we were talking about teeth and the dentist- we had a go at being dentists and patients.
We enjoyed buddy reading again this week.
Perhaps the most fun was on Thursday when we practiced our scooter skills. We scooted in and out of the markers and practiced stopping carefully. We had a race at the end and were super fast! 🛴
