In the junior room.

3rd Oct 2024
This week the junior infants started phonics AND cursive writing and they did a great job! We enjoyed finding things beginning with "s" and "a" that could fit in the basket so we couldn't put Sonny, Adam, Aidan and Ava in 😆. Senior infants and 1st Class are learning cursive writing too and were absolutely fantastic! We all had a go on the board, in our copies and on whiteboards, there was some beautiful writing. Our reading buddies helped us find "s" and "a" in our books today. Senior infants also did some dictation and they were so good at it!
In maths all the children were working on number, the juniors were looking at number 1. We wrote it, found it in the classroom, made sets of 1, made it out of playdough and sang a song about it. Senior infants did similar for number 6.
In PE  we practiced throwing using both underarm and overarm methods.
We have been discussing Autumn and have looked for signs of Autumn 🍂  we looked at leaves through microscopes 🔬 and could see the veins. We then drew veins and patterns on paper leaves (good pencil control!) We were delighted with how they turned out.
