Newsletter 16th February 2024
Open Day:
Thanks to everyone who came to our Open Day last week, especially the 5th/6th class students who showed the younger children around and gave a great account of themselves and the school. Regarding 2024/2025 I would like to point out that we will either have a Junior room consisting of only Junior and Senior Infants OR Junior and Senior infants combined with 1st class, depending on enrollment levels. As I mentioned before, we were not in a position to do this in November 2023 because we have full class sizes further up the school which will be alleviated with a large graduating class in June.
Assembly Winners:
Our recent assembly winners not only got a certificate and homework pass for their effort but they also went on an all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii (See picture HERE). We sang Yellow Submarine and Tell Me Ma. The focus of the next assembly is “Kind Hands, Kind Feet, Kind Words”.
New Bike rack:
Thanks so much to the Green School Committee and Ms. Harding who applied to An Taisce for a fully funded bike rack which will be installed later in the year. We look forward to getting children bringing in bikes for activities/lessons when we get this great amenity. SEE POST HERE.
Ocean FM:
In case you missed it please check out our very own Green School Committee’s interview on Ocean FM regarding speeding in the village HERE which is further discussed in this interview with Clr. Dara Mulvey (CLICK HERE). Thanks to Dara for helping to highlight this issue.
Bake Sale:
Thanks to the PA and the whole school community for running another fantastic Bake Sale this year. There was a huge amount raised (I will communicate final figure soon) and please click here for photos on the PA Facebook Page. We will be spending some of this money on some badly needed shelving for our school library which is now bursting with great books thanks to you and our PA.
Cash for Clobber:
Our final day for collecting will be next Monday 19th February if there are any final bits to bag up and send in to us. The response has been amazing so thank you all.
Cards:
Reminder that the PA have organised a cards event for children aged 7+ this Sunday in the community centre. Check out the PA Facebook page here for more info.
