Summer term with 1st and 2nd

29th Jun 2021

What a fantastic last term we had in 1st and 2nd! Even though we didn’t get our usual June weather we didn’t let this dampen our spirits!

We had lots of fun creating a model of Ballinacarrow Village. The children did a brilliant job recreating some of the buildings and businesses in the village. Can you recognize them?

During early June we had a special Kindness day. We all had a wonderful time enjoying pod picnics, making beautiful keepsake trees with kind words and messages from our friends and lastly painting and decorating kindness stones with lots of lovely affirmations.

The children made some beautiful art displays: our magical garden and cool summer sunglasses!

The fun continued the following week when we made some silly hats and socks. We used a simple paper plate template for the hats and we got the glue gun out for our socks! They’ve got some very silly faces on them!

Our annual Sports day went ahead this year but with a few changes. We celebrated this over two days with some classic games like our obstacle course and sack races alongside some new additions like our javelin throw and basketball drills. A big thank you to Ms Lydon and Michelle for organising the equipment and managing the stations.  We finished the day off with a delicious ice-cream, just the ticket after all that exercise!

We finished up our last week with a Pirate day. We filled the day with pirate activities such as talking like a pirate, a treasure hunt, map making and parrot training. We have a hearty crew in Ballinacarrow ready to set sail on the wild Atlantic!

What a fun last term we had together. I wish all the boys and girls a wonderful summer ahead after a challenging year in school. Enjoy the well-deserved break, all of you have worked so hard! See you all in September!
